FRENCH, John Private 881 5th Bn. Connaught Rangers
Born: Tuam, Co Galway Resided: Tuam Enlisted: Leigh, Lancashire (*9/9/1914).
Age: 36 Date of Death: 28/08/1915 Cause: Cause: Killed in action (Initially reported as missing).
*Military service: Private French had almost one years service at the time of his death.
Family notes: Son of, Henry and Norah French, of Galway Rd. , Tuam, Co. Galway .
Other notes: Private French’s Medal Index Card shows him as entering the Gallipoli Theatre of Operations on 21/7/1915; his Index Card also shows him as “Regd as Dead”; no date was given.
Grave/Memorial: Panel 181 to 183. Helles Memorial.
