The Annual Anzac Day Dawn service was held at Grangegorman Military Cemetery in Dublin.

The service was opened by Dr. Ruth Adler, the Australian Ambassador. The officiating chaplain was Monsignor Eoin Thynne, Head Chaplain of the Irish Defence Forces; Monsignor Thynne has conducted this service for at least the last six years that I have been attending the service.

Despite a very heavy downpour at least 150 people (including children of varying ages) attended the service. In attendance were members of various Irish Ex-service organisations and members of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers Association.

The Last Post and Revaille were sounded by a trumpeter from the No. 1 Army Band of the Irish Defence Forces.

Grangegorman Military Cemetery contains many Military Graves, bit of ANZAC significance are the garves of three New Zealand and seven Australian soldiers, nine of whom died when the R.M.S. Leinster was torpedoed on 10 October 1918. The cemetery also contains the graves of several Irish soldiers who served at Gallipoli and died of wounds sustained there or in other theatres.

A wreath was laid on behalf of the Gallipoli Association and its membership.

The service was followed by a breakfast supplied by the Australian Embassy, ANZAC cookies and coffee with an added splash to warm up the morning were also available.
