The great news from this years "Back to Our Past" must be that it was a success. We had a larger footfall at our stand this year than last year, with many people from last year coming back to visit the stand and to thank us for our efforts in assisting their research.
The stand this year was manned by the redoubtable editor of the "Gallipolian" (The Association Journal) Mr. Foster Summerson. I know that Foster very much enjoyed his day on the stand (Friday). Foster traveled all the way from Northern Ireland to assist on the stand and his time and effort is greatly appreciated.
Mr. John Gibbin, manned the stand on Saturday and Sunday, his enthusiasm for the Gallipoli Campaign was noted by many people that attended the stand, John also traveled a great distance to assist (from Co. Galway). It should also be noted that John joined the Gallipoli Association last year as a result of attending our stand at last year's, "Back to Our Past" event.
And last but most definitely not least, Mr. Philip Lecane manned the stand on Sunday. Philip is a long time member of the Gallipoli Association and his knowledge of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers was of great benefit. It should be noted that Philip is the author of a book on the sinking of the "R.M.S. Leinster" which was sunk in the Irish Sea on 10th October 1918.
On behalf of the Gallipoli Association and it's wider membership I would like to thank all three gentlemen for their time, efforts and enthusiasm in helping our Association to publicise it's objectives and attracting new members so that we can continue our important work into the future.
