DOE, JOHN Private Regimental No: 3/3011 Regiment: 1st Bn Essex Regiment

Born: Great Dunmow, Essex Resided: Ruislip, Middlesex Enlisted: Harrow, Middlesex.

Age: 40 Date of Death: 06/08/1915 Cause: Killed in action (Initially reported as missing).

Previous Military Service: The CWGC entry shows him as having served in the South African War.

The South African Medal Rolls show a J Doe (Regt No. 3449) 1st Bn Essex Regiment as being entitled to the award of the King’s Medal

Family Notes: Husband of Mrs. A. Doe, of 3, Home Cottages, Ruislip, Uxbridge, Middx. Of Dunmow, Essex. Served in the South African War.

Other Notes: John Doe’s Medal Index Card shows him as entering the Gallipoli Theatre of Operations on 17/5/1915; the Index Card also shows him as “Pres Dead 6/8/1915.”
