DWYER, John Francis Trooper 741 (2nd Rfcts) “A” Sqn, 2nd Australian Light Horse, 1st Light Horse Bde

Born: Ennistymon, Co Clare Resided: Railway Hotel, Cunnamulla, QLD Enlisted: Cunnamulla (2/11/14).

*Age: 42 Date of Death: 07/08/1915 Cause: Killed in action.

Previous Military Service: Trooper Dwyer stated on his previous military service as “Royal Artillery, Fort Westmoreland, Finished time”.

*Family Notes: Son of Mr. Patrick John Dwyer, Ennistymon, Co Clare;

Religion: Roman Catholic. Trade/profession: Labourer.

Other Notes: Trooper Dwyer’s personal file holds little information with regards to his service, He was transferred to Gallipoli from Egypt on 1/8/15, it would appear that he arrived on the Gallipoli Peninsula on 6/8/15. In 1919 his father received his son’s I.D. Disc (sent by Base Records, Australia), with a covering letter stating “Found by the Graves registration Unit in front of Quinn’s Post, Gallipoli”.
