I hope I get this right as this is my first time here. I am trying to get information to add to my family history archive. My Grandfather was wounded at Kidney Hill on 18th August 1915 just 3 days after he landed at Suvla Bay and we are trying to establish which hospital ship he would have bee repatriated on. Any ideas where I can start looking?

Hi, it can be difficult to track which Hospital Ship a soldier may have been evacuated on.

You could try the Archives in Kew and see so they have any hospital ship logs.

Or you could try trace soldiers from his regiment who died at sea on or after the 18th and see is there a ship named. It might lead you to a possible identification of the ship he was on.

Some times local newspapers listed the arrival of a hospital ship and the casualties on board her.

You could pm me his name no and regument id you like and I will see if I can find anything.
To protect our history, we must secure it's future.
