Hi John,

Initial checks on James Reid show hia as entering the gallipoli Theatre of Operations on 9/5/1915. His Medal Index card shows him as "M.P.D." Missing Presumed dead.

His CWGC entry shows him as being interred in grave XI. B. 19. TWELVE TREE COPSE CEMETERY. Therefore it would appear that his body may have been lost for a while and then recovered and identified.

I will check my copy of the Battalion War Diary for the date of his death and see can I give you some information.

I note that the GWCG does NOT show a next of kin perhaps when we post him on the Association Roll of Honour you might consider adding a next of kin.

Hi John,

A very hearty welcome to the forum. Please do not hesitate to ask questions or make a comment as that is what this forum is all about. Take your time and have a look at all the info this site has to offer. I find that it is just as important to get a good overview of the campaign from beginning to end. This will enable you to get a good grasp as to what the fighting was all about so that you can understand the campaign from your relatives eyes. Mal will be able to help you out as he is a virtual fountain of knowledge on all things Gallipoli whereas my interest is more confined to the ANZAC area of operations .

I hope you find this site a great asset,

Regards,

Hi

Just like to introduce myself. My name is John Prescott and i am researching my grandfathers brother who died in the gallipoli campaign. I joined to try and gain some knowledge of him and his unit and what part they played in the campaign from the experts on the forum.
The person i am researching is James Reid who died on 4 June 1915 from what i have found i think it was the third battle for KRITHIA. James Reid was a Private 1st Battalion Kings Own Scottish Borderers, no 17655, buried Twelve tree Copse Cemetery Gallipoli.

Regards

John
