Hi,
I am currently engaged in researching my Grandfather's service history. He served in Gallipoli initially as " Able Seaman R Chalkley  'D' Company Hawke Battalion RND  Z/965/L.
Amongst his possessions is an account of an attack on Mercer road sap on 19/6/15.
The following names are mentioned specifically:-

'A' and 'D' Company
Petty Officer Shea (wounded)
Able Seaman Newberry

Officers
Mr Morgan
Mr Little
Mr Tremayne
Mr Horsefield

I highlight these names in the hope that somebody may recognise them and that the account may be of interest.
In addition I have a number of photographs and copy No 19 of the 8th Army Corps Artillery Orders dated 6th January 1916 on withdrawal.

I hope that some of this may be of interest to Association members and possibly beyond.

Hi Simon,

I believe that your Grandfather may have been mentioned in Despatches.

See my email to you.
