This 1902 built example of a 10 pounder mountain gun, often called a 'screw gun', was used by the mountain artillery units at Gallipoli, including the 4th (Highland) Mountain Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery, of which my great-grandfather was a member of, in Argyll Battery. Some references state the 2.75 inch mountain gun was also used at Gallipoli but I have seen no proof of this, and all sources I have state that the units at Gallipoli only received these weapons after they left the Peninsula. I wasn't aware of an example in the UK so was very surprised to see this one in the Royal Artillery Museum, so did this comprehensive photo 'walk around' of it. These even one for sale in the USA, as much as i'd like it I can't quite afford one.....
